· SCORES GBAJABIAMILA, DESMOND ELLIOT, SULAIMAN YUSUF HIGH
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Taiwo Alao, on Thursday emphasised the need for Nigerians to love more deeply and to live together in peace and harmony.
He also praised the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila and the member representing Surulere Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Desmond Elliot for creating opportunities for the people.
‘’The contributions of the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, member representing Surulere Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Desmond Elliot and the Vice Chairman, Surulere Local Government, Hon Sulaiman Yusuf to the development of Surulere are impossible to estimate. They have the interests of all in mind’’ the astute politician said.
In his message on this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival, Alao urged Muslims to hold on to Islamic tenets and the teachings which the Qur’an and Sunnah emphasize.
‘’The teachings of Islam emphasise that we live with one another peacefully’’ he said.
Popularly called Tolani Twins, the APC chieftain reminded the good people of Lagos State of hope, passion and joy in the midst of despair.
He advised Islamic faithful to submit to Allah’s command.
He also appealed to them to develop the spirit of brotherliness and love, identify impoverished persons in their communities and give them the opportunity to partake in the sacrificial feast.
Alao listed obedience, faith, sacrifice, thankfulness, generosity, peace, love for neighbours and training as major lessons from the sacrificial feast.
He enjoined Nigerians to work together in unity.
‘’Nigerians must stop viewing themselves in divergent lines. They must stop emphasizing their differences. They must contribute towards the unity, stability and progress of the country’’ he said.
Alao, in the statement released in Surulere and made available to local and foreign journalists, urged Muslims in Nigeria to continue to show support for the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, member representing Surulere Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Desmond Elliot and the Vice Chairman, Surulere Local Government, Hon Sulaiman Yusuf in order to move Nigeria especially Surulere to greater heights.
He urged members of the political class in the country to address the needs of young people, particularly those facing hopelessness, joblessness and poverty.
Ending the message, Alao said ‘’I wish all Nigerians joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration’’
