Desmond Elliot visits flood hit areas

The member representing Surulere Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Desmond Elliot, on Thursday visited flood hit areas in the state.

Some of the areas visited by the lawmaker included Alaka, Iponri, Sam Shonibare and Simisola.

Speaking with journalists, Hon Elliot promised that the Lagos State government would continue the clearing of drainages across the state.

“We will make sure government continues the clearing of canals, collectors and drainages. This will ensure better flow during the rainy season” he said.

Elliot, currently the Chairman, House Committee on Environment, spoke on the safety of the people, livestock and property.

“In due time, the House Committee on Environment and other committees will commence oversight of ministries, departments and agencies in the state” he said.

Residents in the affected areas commended the Lagos State government for ensuring the safety of the people and the areas.

Specifically, they thanked the lawmaker for visiting the areas during the heavy rainfall.
